About the event

This is a series of THREE online classes- Wednesdays Oct 26, Nov 2, and Nov 9 from 7:00-8:30 pm.

Study skills and work habits are the backbone of academic success. But most students have not been directly taught these skills and are lacking the ability to use them effectively.

In this series of 1.5-hour, online courses, students learn how to plan, organize, and stay motivated so they have the most successful school year yet!

Set an achievable goal

Organize and plan for success

Stay motivated each week

Disorganization, procrastination, distraction,

and more of your biggest challenges!

Classes include:

SSC 101 Goal Setting

First we must choose our destination and map out the best course to get there! Through this fun, role-playing class, you will:

• Choose an achievable semester-long academic goal

• Discover dangers (weaknesses) can keep you from reaching our destination

• Find the fuel (strengths) can keep you going

• Learn how to utilize rest stops effectively to readjust your plan

• Schedule and plan effectively so you get to your destination on time

We will focus on these executive functioning skills: planning, flexibility, time management, and metacognition.

SSC 201 Organization

Now that you have chosen your destination, you must make sure you are planned, prepped, and packed for success! You will learn:

• Why planning ahead helps

• What supplies you absolutely must have to make the trip enjoyable

• How to set up your area for success

• Tips and tricks for organizing your stuff and your schedule

Plus, how your parent "Navigator" can help!

We will focus on these executive functioning skills: planning and organization.

SSC 301 Motivation

Now that you have chosen a goal and packed, it's time to make the journey! And yes, although, a trip is all about the destination, if you keep your eyes solely on the goal, you miss all the fun in between! In this class, you will learn how to:

• Avoid procrastination

• "Sightsee" without creating a detour

• Navigate around unexpected road blocks

• Stay motivated with long term goals

• Use rest as a way to refuel

We will focus on these executive functioning skills: task initiation, flexibility, self-control, and perseverance.
